Staff Nurse Band 5 – Surgical Orthopaedic Ward – Guernsey, Channel Island

Occupational Health Staffing are looking to recruit a Staff Nurse (Band 5) – Surgical Orthopaedic Ward to work in Guernsey, Channel Island on a full time permanent basis. The role will be to:

• Be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for patients 
• Deliver care in accordance with current ward philosophy
• Under the direction of the nurse in charge regularly act as ward co-ordinator
• Take charge of the ward and supervise nursing staff on a regular basis
• Act as a clinical supervisor and preceptor to develop skills of first and second level nurses, and nursing auxiliaries
• Act as a key figure in assisting new staff complete orientation and induction programmes.
• Managing orthopaedic trauma patients – This includes spinal injuries, upper and lower limb fractures, and back pain. Many have complicated nursing needs, require MDT input, and complex discharge planning.
• Managing he elective joint replacements – This includes preoperative review by nursing staff, Physiotherapist and Occupation Therapists. This identifies any concerns prior to the patient being admitted. Patients are admitted for elective procedures including hip, knee, shoulder, wrist, hand and ankle surgery.

Salary: £36,000 – £42,700

The client offer a full relocation package which includes interview and relocation travel, this is in addition to competitive pay, annual bonus and additional bonus scheme of £3,000, payable after two and four years.
